HUSKIES FOOTBALL RECAP:
Even though going into their matchup on Saturday with Saskatchewan (#6) ranked higher than Alberta (#9), the Golden Bears had the Huskies number for the second time this season defeating them 23-20. For the Huskies, both their losses this season have come at the hands of Alberta, but that’s not to say it was a bad performance from the Dogs.
Alberta led the way with 427 total yards of offence compared to the Huskies 354. Alberta would start off strong, scoring 11 in the first quarter and keeping the Huskies off the board. Quarterback Anton Amundrud would connect with Rhett Vavra early in the second quarter with a 15-yard pass to finally get Saskatchewan on the board. David Solie would end the first half with a 49-yard field goal pulling the Huskies within one.
The third quarter started off strong for Alberta once again with a touchdown early in the quarter and a couple rouge points to give them a 20-10 lead, followed by a David Solie field goal for the Huskies to end the quarter 20-13.
Daniel Wiebe would tie the game with a 2-yard run early in the fourth quarter, but Alberta would march the ball down field into field goal range to end the game, 23-20.
