Prince Albert Police say officers were bear sprayed while answering a disturbance call but managed to take a suspect into custody.
Officers were dispatched at 12:53 a.m. Saturday to the 400 block of 28th Street East where it was reported there was a group of males in an alley and one was armed with a canister of bear spray. While en route officers received an update that a 59-year-old man had been bear-sprayed.
Patrol members located a 17-year-old male who matched the description of the suspect and while speaking to police, he took off. When officers gave chase, they say the teen deployed bear spray which, although having been struck in the face with the noxious substance, they fought through it and took the suspect into custody.
The teen is in court today facing several charges including Assault with a Weapon, Assault Police Officer, Carry a Concealed Weapon, and Possession of a Weapon.
