Canada stands with Ukraine, remaining allies with the war-torn country after U.S. President Donald Trump blamed Ukraine for its war with Russia, stating on Tuesday that they should have made a deal rather than start a war. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau emphasized, “nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine”, in reference to the talks between the U.S. and Russia yesterday (Tues). He touched on the previous peace because of the rules around borders, like not invading your neighbours, which Russia chose to violate a number of years ago.
Trudeau says, “Ukrainians have been fighting and dying not just to protect their sovereignty, their territorial integrity – they are also fighting to protect the rules-based order that keeps us all safe around the world, and has for close to 80 years now.” He states that Canada and most of its allies stand against Vladimir Putin’s immoral, illegal, unjust violations of the international order. The Prime Minister is meeting with European leaders today to talk about what’s happening with Ukraine.
