A Saskatoon Police armoured rescue vehicle responded to a report Thursday morning of a man entering a business with a gun in the 1700 block of Preston Avenue North, which is where Preston Crossing is. A news release from the Police Service says officers advised the staff to escape out the back door while instructing the surrounding businesses at Preston Crossing to shelter in place.
The Tactical Support Unit responded with the armed vehicle and was able to call the suspect out of the business without further incident.
Police report that three imitation firearms and a can of bear spray were seized. A 24-year-old man is charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, unauthorized possession of a concealed weapon and two counts of failing to comply with court-imposed conditions.
