If getting hit with tariffs from Canada’s southern neighbors wasn’t enough, China has announced several levies on Canadian agriculture and food products.
The move was made as a form of retaliation against 100 per cent tariffs Ottawa introduced on Chinese-made electric vehicles and 25 per cent tariffs on their steel and aluminum products in October.
Media reports say China will be issuing a 100 per cent tariff to Canadian canola oil, oil cakes and pea imports, and a 25 per cent tariff on pork. They are expected to come into effect March 20th.
