The Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT) is investigating the circumstances of a collision involving an RCMP vehicle and a pedestrian.
Tuesday at approximately 10:10 p.m. Punnichy RCMP received a firearm related call for service on the Kawacatoose First Nation.
An RCMP news release says one of the responding officers was travelling in a police vehicle on the Kandahar grid road and struck a pedestrian who was on the road.
The incident occurred near a rural residence on the Kawacatoose First Nation, just over half a kilometre from the main community site.
The officer immediately called for an ambulance and provided first aid to the pedestrian until EMS arrived. A 16-year-old male sustained serious injuries and was initially airlifted to a Regina Hospital by STARS but has since been transferred to Saskatoon.
As required by The Police Act, 1990, Saskatchewan RCMP notified the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team.
