Six Saskatoon athletes landed in Limoges, France this past week to take part in the 2019 International Cup for baton twirling.
Brenda Bennett with Brenda’s School of Baton & Dance says during the year they devote 15 hours a week in between school work and other commitments, to training which not only includes baton training but acrobatics and dance like ballet, tap, and jazz.
And she points out in the lead up to a competition of this calibre, the training schedule ramps up considerably.
“You know it’s a big shout out to the Saskatoon community when you’re able to train in a big gym and usually we get the PAC this time of year so it’s very helpful and we appreciate getting a proper facility because it’s hard to compete at this world level you know without that.”
Those participating include Ameila Sepke, Alexandra Maley, Jazzlyn Windjack, Ruby Drieger, Kira Gerein, Emily Leakos and Autumn Altman.
