The Holiday Train arrives in Saskatchewan and in Saskatoon it was in support of the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre.
This is the first time Saskatoon has seen the Holiday Train since 2019. In that time CP Rail merged with Kansas City Southern Railway and it is now known as the CPKC Holiday Train.
The Holiday Train is about 1,000 feet in length with 14 rail cars decorated with hundreds of thousands of technology-leading LED lights and a modified boxcar that has been turned into a traveling stage for performers.
Saskatchewan stops on Tuesday and Wednesday include Bredenbury, Yorkton, Foam Lake, Wynyard, Saskatoon, Wilkie and Macklin. The Anyway Gang is performing live holiday music.
The Holiday Train is a food and fundraising event where those attending in Saskatoon were asked to bring food for the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre which is aiming to fill 40 bins with urgently needed food items for emergency hampers.
The food bank’s most wanted food items include baby food and formula, canned fruits and vegetables, hearty soups and stews, whole grain pasta and cereals, canned protein, and peanut butter.
