Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes is investigating after four people were found dead on Carry the Kettle Nakoda Nation, east of Regina. Around 11:15 Tuesday morning, File Hills First Nations Police Service were alerted about a sudden death at a home on the Nakoda Nation. When they arrived, four people were found dead inside the home.
Because the investigation is just beginning, the RCMP can’t release any further details about the four people at this time, but next of kin notifications have been made. File Hills First Nations Police Service determined the deaths suspicious and so RCMP Major Crimes was brought in to continue the investigation.
Then, around 3:15 Tuesday afternoon, the RCMP received multiple reports of a man pointing a gun at individuals on Zagime Anishinabek (formerly known as Sakimay First Nation). Police don’t know if this is related to the sudden deaths, but will provide an update when they are able. There is an increased police presence on Zagime Anishinabek as the investigation continues. Anyone in the area is asked to remain vigilant and exercise caution.
