The Saskatchewan Marshals Service says in a news release that its first ten experienced police officers have begun their training. It’s a seven-week program which includes in-service training, and mandatory qualifications and online coursework that builds on previous experience and knowledge. Included in the training are courses in firearms training, defensive tactics, trauma informed policing and Indigenous culture.
A government news release says the Saskatchewan Marshals Service will detect, disrupt and deter criminal activity across the province, locate and apprehend high-risk and prolific offenders, and provide emergency and specialized support to RCMP, First Nations and municipal police services.
