The Saskatoon Police Service says patrol officers responded to Confederation Mall on Monday after three people going into the mall were confronted by a man who became verbally aggressive. They continued on into the mall but when they were leaving the same person appeared again and reportedly again became aggressive but this time a physical altercation took place.
One person suffered a stab wound and police say the victim was a 16-year-old who was taken to hospital by paramedics with a non-life-threatening injury. A male suspect was located and he, as well as the woman he was with at the time, were taken into custody.
A news release from the police indicates the woman was in possession of a knife which was seized but she was later released. Police do not believe she was involved with the assault.
The knife suspected of being used in the attack was seized from a garbage can. A 23-year-old man has been charged with Aggravated Assault.
