The provincial government has announced that an additional $15 million is being invested this fiscal year to accelerate capital renovations, equipment upgrades and operations to expand acute care services at Saskatoon City Hospital. This includes an extra 100 acute care inpatient beds.

A government news release says this is to support the Saskatchewan Health Authority in addressing the capacity pressures in provincial hospitals. Health Minister Jeremy Cockrill says the funding builds on the $30 million already allocated in this fiscal year’s budget for enhancing hospital capacity and expanding emergency and acute care services. According to the news release, there will be more announcements in the upcoming provincial budget on March 19th.
