Prince Albert Police Service says armed robbers forced a taxi driver to provide them with a ride to steal a vehicle.
Back on April 12th, police began investigating after a man said he’d been robbed of his truck at gun point by three people wearing masks. This was at 12:50 a.m. in the 2700 block of 15th Avenue East. Patrol officers spotted what they thought was the stolen vehicle, but it sped off when they tried to pull it over. Other officers attended the scene and found the victim who was treated by Parkland Ambulance.
In a news release police say four suspects, three men and a woman, were given a ride in a taxi which is when they reportedly pulled a gun and ordered the tax driver to follow the truck. They allegedly stole it at gunpoint.
After being alerted of a possible sighting of the stolen truck, about six hours later Pelican Narrows RCMP and the La Ronge Crime Reduction Team found the truck driving slowly on Highway 135 about 40 kilometres south of Pelican Narrows.
They boxed the truck in and when those inside refused to exit, RCMP removed and arrested the man driving and another man who was a passenger while a third male took off into the woods on foot.
In the search of the truck, police say they located and seized a prohibited firearm and credit cards that were stolen. The suspect who ran off is still at large. Anyone with information is asked to contact RCMP and Crime Stoppers.
