The tour guides with Jane’s Walk Saskatoon have a full slate of new walks for the public to take part in this weekend.
Volunteer tour guide Murray Gross says of the 20 scheduled walks, 19 are new this year.
Gross says a few of those walks include Treasures Along the River, Dark Skies: Their Beauty and Necessity, and Story Time Dance Party: A Jane’s Walk for the little ones.
He adds that there are two walks which children probably shouldn’t attend. Caswell Bus Barns takes place inside an active construction site, and The Girl from Saskatoon, as it’s the story of a local murder.
Alongside the good news, Gross says the popular Ghost Walk has been discontinued for being just that…too popular.
“We have decided, at least this, it may be ongoing, not to do anymore of the ghost walks, because they really stretch the abilities of the volunteers. And we don’t want to be known necessarily as the ghost walk people. We’re more than that.”
New this year, an interactive walk to fill the void is the Broadway Door Decor Back Alley Art Tour.
“The Broadway folks have chosen the Jane’s Walk Festival to unveil a series of 12 artworks that are located in the back alleys of Broadway on back doors.”
Those planning to attend don’t need to register, but they should show up a few minutes before the walk begins. A full schedule of walks can be found here.
