The Saskatoon Inn and Conference Centre will be hosting an inquest into the death of Saskatoon man, Ashwin Poggenpoel, this June.
Between the 9th and the 13th, Coroner William Davern will conduct a review of Poggenpoel’s death, which occurred on June 18th, 2022.
The 32-year-old man was seen in an apartment in Saskatoon that day. Members of the Saskatoon Police Service attended his residence after receiving a 911 call and located the man before he became unresponsive. Lifesaving efforts were continued in the Royal University Hospital Emergency Department, but they were unsuccessful, and he was pronounced dead.
An inquest takes place to establish who died, when and where that person died and the medical cause and manner of death in the case that it was sudden or unexpected. The coroner’s jury may make recommendations to prevent similar deaths.
