An area of northern Saskatchewan is experiencing some unfavourable air conditions due to wildfire smoke.
The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency says an area encompassing Cumberland House, Candle Lake Provincial Park, and Narrow Hills Provincial Park is affected, and residents should spend a limited time outdoors.
The SPSA website says these conditions could cause residents to experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.
Conditions are forecast to improve Monday night. The SPSA says there are 19 active wildfires burning for a total of 146 fires since the season began on April 1st. Six of them are contained.
