The Resort Village of Candle Lake advises that the Pre-Evacuation Alert remains in effect.
In a social media post Fire Chief Jim Arnold reports that while progress is being made in containing the fires burning east of Candle Lake, the risk to the community remains high.
Monday area residents and visitors can expect to see more columns of smoke in the area as the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency (SPSA) continues to fight the fires.
The SPSA reports there are 140 assets working to put out the wildfires burning nearby including bulldozers, skidders, and teams of firefighters which can range from five to 10 people each. In addition, there are six aircraft including one from Alaska and two from Quebec.
Outdoor fires of any kind are not permitted. CSA approved propane stoves, barbeques, pellet grills and outdoor propane fire pits for the purpose of cooking only – are allowed. Fireworks are absolutely not permitted. The forecast predicts 30 per cent chance of showers for the area on Monday and Tuesday with a 60 per cent chance of showers on Wednesday.
In their last bulletin posted on the SPSA website there were eight fires burning with two not contained and four under assessment. The Camp Fire and Shoe Fire are not contained and are both burning near Candle Lake.
