The Resort Village of Candle Lake Emergency Services is advising of a pre-alert for possible evacuation due to the Camp, Shoe and Boot fires burning east of Candle Lake. While there is no immediate danger residents are reminded to stay alert and planning for evacuation which could take place with short notice.
Area residents are advised via a post on social media that crews continue to make progress in containing the fires however due to shifting winds today the risk to the community remains and chances of rain continue to be low.
The post indicates some ash was in the air over Candle Lake yesterday, and that may continue again today. Candle Lake Emergency Services reports there is no danger of this ash igniting another fire. They also advise caution when travelling on Highway 120 due to smoke in the area.
