The Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit has charged a Saskatoon man in connection to an online child exploitation investigation.
The investigation commenced in March and on Tuesday members of the ICE Unit executed a Search Warrant at a home in Saskatoon where electronic devices were seized by investigators.
Forty-one-year-old Steven Wesley Mernickle of Saskatoon appeared in court Tuesday charged with Possession of Child Pornography and Making Available Child Pornography. He was released on numerous conditions. His next court appearance is set for June 12th.
The Saskatchewan ICE Unit is comprised of investigators from the Saskatchewan RCMP, Regina Police Service, Saskatoon Police Service, and Prince Albert Police Service. Their mandate is to investigate crimes involving the abuse and/or exploitation of children on the Internet.
