Weapons call – Gordie Howe Bridge
The Saskatoon Police Service says officers responded to the area around the Gordie Howe Bridge around 7:30 p.m. Thursday evening after receiving a report of a person armed with a firearm.
When officers arrived, they could hear sounds that were consistent with an air gun being fired. Officers searched the area locating what is believed to be an encampment and found an imitation firearm. Police seized the weapon for destruction but say they weren’t able to find who was in possession of it.
Assault
The Saskatoon Police Service says a male walking in an alley in the area of Preston Avenue South and Main Street was approached by a group of people he didn’t know and was assaulted with wooden objects.
This was broad daylight – it happened at 7:15 p.m. Thursday. The victim wasn’t seriously injured, and the suspects fled the area before police arrived.

Stabbing
The Saskatoon Police Service says a man was taken to hospital after being stabbed Thursday in the 3300 block of 33rd Street West.
The call came in around 1:45 p.m. and officers found the victim with a non-life-threatening injury who was transported to hospital by paramedics.
The suspect had fled the scene prior to police arrival but is believed to be known to the victim.
Members of the Serious Assault Unit are continuing to investigate.
Assault with a Weapon
The Saskatoon Police Service says officers responded to an assault in progress in the 500 block of Avenue H South on Thursday afternoon. This was at a home on the block around 3:30 p.m.
Officers located the victim outside with non-life-threatening injuries who had been hit several times with a cane by a person known to them.
The suspect was tracked down inside the home and arrested and charged. A 59-year-old man has been charged with assault with a weapon.
Robbery
Police say shortly after 9:00 a.m. on Thursday they received a call about a robbery in the 100 block of Avenue P South. The Saskatoon Police Service says officers were told two unknown men armed with bear spray and a knife had approached the victim and robbed him of his property; they then fled the area.
Members of the Patrol Unit continue to investigate.
Assault and Mischief
The Saskatoon Police Service says officers responded to a business in the 2200 block of 22nd Street West after receiving a report that a mine had attempted to fight with a security guard.
Officers were told the security guard was assaulted – unprovoked – and didn’t know the suspect. The security guard wasn’t seriously injured.
A 27-year-old man was arrested by police without incident and charged with assault, mischief under $5000, and two counts of failure to comply with court-imposed conditions.
