In conjunction with the City of Martensville’s 40th Annual Buster Days celebration, the Martensville Fire Department is hosting the Saskatchewan Regional FireFit Championships. The event will be held at the Martensville Athletic Pavilion on June 7th and June 8th, between 10 am and 4 pm, and money raised will go towards supporting children and families throughout the communities they serve.
Levi Schutz is the Captain for Martensville Fire, and the President of the Volunteer Firefighters Association, and says the FireFit event is a unique one this year, with volunteer firefighters competing against professional firefighters, in many of the skills.
The FireFit event has several tasks they need to compete in, including a tower climb, hose pack carry, hose hoist, forcible entry, hose advance, and victim rescue.
In addition to the skills competition, they are hosting a pancake breakfast, silent auction and will be participating in Buster Days parade.
