The Saskatoon Police Service is asking for the public’s help in finding those responsible for a homicide that took place in the city’s west end, in the 400 block of Olmstead Road, on the early morning hours of June 12th last year.
Harvey Zoreb, 66 years old, lived in a care home in the 100 block of Olmstead Road in the Fairhaven neighbourhood in Saskatoon. Police have put together a timeline of Harvey’s movements the day he died. They say he had a routine he liked to follow and was often up earlier than the other residents. At 5 a.m. on that Wednesday, Harvey left his home before breakfast to get a drink from the 7-11 on Pendygrasse Road. He purchased a drink at 5:25 a.m. and left the convenience store to head back home through Herbert S. Sears Park.
A short time later, as Harvey made his way through the park, he was attacked. Saskatoon Police say one witness saw three possible suspects. Harvey was brutally beaten with what police believe was a t-shape piece of metal. He was found around 6 a.m. with life threatening injuries. Harvey received medical attention on scene and was then transported to hospital where he later died.
Police, through their investigation say they seized many hours of video surveillance, and they are confident that the killer and their associates are in this footage. After reviewing the crime scene footage, Police could see a large amount of foot traffic in and around the area of Herbert Sears Park that morning, so they believe there are witnesses who saw something and have new and relevant information but have not come forward yet.
Anyone with details surrounding Harvey Zoreb’s death are asked to contact Crime Stoppers which is completely anonymous. You can call 1-800-222-8477 or leave a tip online at saskatooncrimestoppers.com.
