The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a grass fire on Circle Drive West at 6:19 p.m. on Monday.
There was a large grass fire next to the train tracks caused by a CN train travelling southbound. The fire stretched between 33rd St West and 22nd St West and moved quickly toward the sound barrier.
More fire trucks were called in and firefighters started an aggressive attack to stop the fire from travelling towards structures behind the sound barrier.
Crews used multiple hose lines to quickly apply water to the fire burning along the train tracks and brush trucks drove along the ditch to extinguish telecommunication poles and trees. A total of eight fire apparatus were deployed to aid in putting the fire out.
