There are currently 17 active wildfires in the province, up from 13 just Tuesday.
As of 4:00 Wednesday morning, five were considered contained compared to six contained fires listed Tuesday. The largest uncontained fire, the Shoe fire, is now 554,484 hectares in size. The second largest uncontained fire, Pisew, is 181,765 hectares large.
Monday afternoon, the provincial fire ban was rescinded following precipitation over the past couple of weekends. Some RM’s are keeping their fire bans while others are lifting the restrictions. For example, the RM of Rosthern #403 and the RM of Blucher have lifted their fire ban effective Tuesday. Check with your local RM for details.
Five communities are still under evacuation order which are Creighton, Denare Beach, East Trout Lake, Whelan Bay and priority individuals in Cumberland House. The SPSA confirmed over 350 values have been lost due to wildfires and it is expected to increase over 500 once assessments are completed.
