September 2026 is set to be an exciting time for Saskatoon as the city will be hosting Country Week which includes the Canadian Country Music Awards.
In an announcement Wednesday, Discover Saskatoon said the week-long event is expected to bring in 16 thousand people to the city and boost our economy with a projected nine million dollars.
CEO of Discover Saskatoon Stephanie Clovechok says, “This is Canada’s biggest celebration, and it will bring artists, fans and music industry leaders to the city and is a chance to roll out the city’s prairie red carpet and let the whole country experience what makes Saskatoon so special.”
This marks the third time Saskatchewan has hosted Country Music Week and the second time in Saskatoon.
Clovechok says the city is ready to do it bigger and louder and more unforgettable than ever.
“Our downtown is alive with music, food and art. Our community is passionate and proud, and our hospitality is unmatched to everyone watching. Whether you’re a country music fan or someone about to become one, we’ve saved you a seat in Saskatchewan.”
Minister of Parks, Culture and sport Alana Ross says, “Country music tells stories rooted in family, home and communities and expresses the same values that we celebrate here in Saskatchewan.”
Mayor Cynthia Block was present for the announcement today and spoke about how this event is a “Moment to celebrate, not just because we will be welcoming some of the country’s most talented country music artists, but because it puts our city on a national stage.”
Historically, the CMAs are held on Sunday, but when Saskatoon hosts next year, it is scheduled for a Saturday, which will allow people options to travel to experience the event.
Discover Saskatoon said the next year will be spent working on details for the event and information on what to expect during Country Week and the lineup for the Country Music Awards will start to become available as it gets finalized.
