Thirty-two-year-old Kaz Daigneault appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court yesterday (Thurs) afternoon, facing charges in connection to the police investigation of a stolen truck on Wednesday morning which resulted into a complicated pursuit including police cruisers allegedly being hit by the truck and shorts fired by officers. The charges include four counts of robbery, four counts of assaulting a police officer with a weapon, two counts of hit and run, along with one count each of charges that include evade police, impaired driving, vehicle theft and breach of probation among others.
On Wednesday, in a news release, Saskatoon Police stated that before this incident, investigators determined around 6:40 Wednesday morning, the suspect allegedly assaulted a taxi driver, stole their vehicle and then struck a convenience store in the 1500 block of 22nd Street. Then he entered and stole an undisclosed amount of cash and deployed bear spray before fleeing on foot.
