Wildfires were knocked down dramatically over the weekend. There are 69 wildfires burning as of Monday morning in Saskatchewan and only six are now considered not contained. There are still eight evacuation incidents that the Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency is responding to and there have been 466 fires to date in the province. Last year at this time there had been 487 wildfires. The five-year average is 380.
Some rain over the weekend again as well. Local rain gauges, so not official Environment Canada figures, but Saturday night through Sunday morning just under 2 inches, or 50 mm, at Candle Lake. Sunday in the northeast side of the province there was 3.5 inches, or 88 mm, recorded in a local rain gauge at Norquay.
